Ann Atamin was our third realtor, before our house actually sold after six months of trying. The first realtor was sweet, but had no idea of how to market our unique house. In searching for the 2nd realtor we were looking for a local realtor who would understand the town and the home. Additionally, we knew that we would make a long distance move before the home sold so our realtor needed to be eyes and ears at the house. When thought we had found the perfect person for that task, but in subsequent week we learned that was not the case. Initially that realtor told us that she would never give out the lock box code and would always be at the house whenever anyone was looking. That ended up with several times that she didn’t show up and many incidents where there were lights left on and doors left open. At one point she called and said that the house was cold. When asked if she had checked the oil and water in the tank. At this, we were lambasted saying that we should have known what was in the tank. Even after she was reminded that she was the eyes on the property, she took no responsibility for the issues. Ultimately that incident cost us over $300 in repairs to the oil furnace. At one point there was an offer on the property. The realtor told the prospective buyer that the new septic system would be installed before closing. Knowing how slowly the town moved to approve this, we asked the realtor to confirm this. Her reply was that “it will be okay.” On the day before the closing the buyer pulled out for that reason. That was the last straw. On December 23 we informed the second realtor that we would be terminating the contract, and asked her to get the appropriate paperwork to us. Her reply was that she was busy with a Christmas party and she would get to it when she felt like it. She finally sent us the remote paperwork one week later. That particular realtor was not only incompetent, but quite rude and unprofessional throughout the process. At one point even stating that I was unreasonable and difficult and that is why she, and others did not like to deal with me. My cousin had found Ann. Upon interviewing her she informed us she had looked at the house and she informed us that when she was at our home there were doors unlocked and doors in the barn that were broken. (because someone hadn’t closed and locked the doors during a windstorm. ) this was the deciding factor in our choice of our 3rd realtor. During our hiring process we learned that Ann/ Gibson Sotheby's International Realty would be staging the house. We questioned this because the previous 2 realtors changed outrageous prices to do this but Ann did not charge for this service. We were very surprised and delighted at this news. Ann, completely understood what she was our eyes and ears on the house. She took that responsibility very seriously and made the 45 minute drive to check on the house every 2 days. Additionally, She always made the trip whenever anyone wanted to look at the property. Ann and Gibson | Sotheby's International Realty must have had an extensive list of contacts because the house was under contract within the first 2 weeks that she had listed it, and the best thing is that the buyers were perfectly suited to that unique property. I cannot say enough about how wonderful Ann had been. Her professionalism and attention to detail are impeccable. We were very blessed to have found her.
